Friday Nov. 3 : Earlier this evening Spot was injured after she ran into the street in front of a car... her injuries are quite serious, and we have no idea yet if she is going to pull through. The Car hit her & the man stopped but I didn't stop to talk to him as we jumped in the car to take her to the emergency vet (it was about 7:30PM). The Dr's think there are no internal injuries, but she has suffered a lot of trauma to her right side, as well as a break in the pelvis on the left. She also took a big bite out of my hand when I picked her up, the poor thing was in so much pain she didn't know what to do. We will know more tomorrow. Saturday Nov. 4 : The Emergency Vet (Dr.
Pascoe) repaired the damage to Spot's side where the skin was damaged and
took X-rays... the X-rays show a broken pelvis on the left side and issues
with both the knee and ankle on the other. We should be able to take
her to her regular vet on Monday and from there she will be seen by an
orthopedic surgeon to determine what can be done to fix the knee and
ankle, as of right now we have no idea how extensive any surgeries will be
or what kind of recovery time and care will be needed. As we both
work outside the home, we are hoping to arrange for her to stay at the
vets for as long as needed, if she needs extra care during the day, esp.
while the skin injuries heal. Sunday Nov. 5 : Saw Spot again this afternoon, she knew we were there and moved her head around a lot to watch us as we moved around the room. We get to move her to her real Vet in the morning. We are going to work from home tomorrow so we can transport her and meet with the Vet to discuss her condition. Monday Nov. 6 : We moved Spot to her
regular vet this morning, but she still has to go back to the emergency
clinic for overnights for a while. I am hoping to be able to work
from home for a week or so to make the transport easier. And our
wonderful friend Caleb has offered to get DH to work for the next week or
so, which means I won't have to try & borrow a car to get Spot back
& forth... She should get to see a orthopedic specialist on Wednesday
so we will know more about long term treatment & care then. |
