Here is Spot when she first came to live with us Sept '99

Spot a few days before the accident

Spot getting ready for a nap Friday night

Friday Nov. 3 : Earlier this evening Spot was injured after she ran into the street in front of a car...   her injuries are quite serious, and we have no idea yet if she is going to pull through.  The Car hit her &  the man stopped but I didn't stop to talk to him as we jumped in the car to take her to the emergency vet (it was about 7:30PM).  The Dr's think there are no internal injuries, but she has suffered a lot of trauma to her right side, as well as a break in the pelvis on the left.  She also took a big bite out of my hand when I picked her up, the poor thing was in so much pain she didn't know what to do.  We will know more tomorrow.

Saturday Nov. 4 : The Emergency Vet (Dr. Pascoe) repaired the damage to Spot's side where the skin was damaged and took X-rays... the X-rays show a broken pelvis on the left side and issues with both the knee and ankle on the other.  We should be able to take her to her regular vet on Monday and from there she will be seen by an orthopedic surgeon to determine what can be done to fix the knee and ankle, as of right now we have no idea how extensive any surgeries will be or what kind of recovery time and care will be needed.  As we both work outside the home, we are hoping to arrange for her to stay at the vets for as long as needed, if she needs extra care during the day, esp. while the skin injuries heal.
We got to see Spot Saturday afternoon and she looked good, she was raising her head and trying to watch us as we petted her and talked with the Dr. (Dr. Pascoe, who had been there the whole time, working a 24 hr shift).  It really lifted our spirits to see how well she is doing, in spite of the injuries.

Sunday Nov. 5 : Saw Spot again this afternoon, she knew we were there and moved her head around a lot to watch us as we moved around the room.  We get to move her to her real Vet in the morning.  We are going to work from home tomorrow so we can transport her and meet with the Vet to discuss her condition.

Monday Nov. 6 : We moved Spot to her regular vet this morning, but she still has to go back to the emergency clinic for overnights for a while.  I am hoping to be able to work from home for a week or so to make the transport easier.  And our wonderful friend Caleb has offered to get DH to work for the next week or so, which means I won't have to try & borrow a car to get Spot back & forth... She should get to see a orthopedic specialist on Wednesday so we will know more about long term treatment & care then.
Evening update: Spot is doing alright... she is still not out of the woods, but we expect everything will be fine.  She is back at the Emergency clinic tonight, but only because her vet doesn't have 24 hr staffing.  She will go back to her regular vet again in the morning.  We are probably going to be taking to Tufts near Boston so she can stay in one place and get all the treatment & surgery she needs without having to be moved around twice a day.   We will know more about the Tufts move in the morning after we get Spot back to her regular vet & they make some phone calls.  Tufts is not too far from where DH & I work so we could still visit her a couple times a week...
